Adventure Outfitters is excited to announce that we have officially adopted a local pier, the Picnic Island Park Fishing Pier in South Tampa, in cooperation with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, Tampa Bay Green Consortium and Project Aware. As part of our adoption, we will sponsor two Dives Against Debris each year. Our first Dive Against Debris will be held Saturday, November 8th at 8:00 am. Click here for more information and to sign up! In addition to the Dives Against Debris, we will be cleaning up the area on a monthly basis. This is a great opportunity for divers and non-divers including family, friends and community volunteers to come together to have a positive impact on the quality of life in our community and create environmental awareness/stewardship. Not only will we be picking up debris from the water and shoreline, we will be collecting and recording all of the data that will be used in ongoing research. While serving the Tampa community, this is also a chance for divers to practice their skills in poorer diving conditions in a safe, supervised environment. You will be able to get to know other like-minded divers and individuals – while making the pier safer for residents, fisherman and important aquatic life. We need divers, kayaks/canoes volunteers, safety observers, data collectors and park cleanup volunteers. Something for everybody!
