A view from the Captain's Chair: Boat Diving

December 5, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join us Tuesday, December 5, as part of our FREE dive club guest lecture series, with 2Shea Charters Fishing and Spearfishing Boat Capital, TJ Shea. Get a view from the captain’s chair on boat diving, boat etiquette and how to make the most of your boat diving adventure without any slack from your boat mates! What is the procedure for loading the boat? What parts of the boat should I be aware of?

Adventure Outfitter’s dive club meets regularly once a month with guest lecturers throughout the state to speak on different diving and water activities. Our mission is focused on local Florida diving including: safety, marine conservation and continuing dive education. We’re always interested in what your interests

About TJ Shea:

TJ has been fishing and diving in the Gulf of Mexico since moving to Florida at the age of 5 from Wildwood, New Jersey. He worked his way from mate on his dad’s charter boat, to captain, to a business owner of 2 Shea Charters, one of the most respected charter operations for fishing, scuba diving and spearfishing on the West Coast of Florida. To compliment his love of fishing, he’s also an avid, experienced diver and spearfisherman. After being certified to dive at age 10, he has been able to dive in some of the world’s most beautiful places from the Great Barrier Reef and Port Lincoln, Australia (with a few Great Whites), to the Wall in Grand Cayman, across the Bahamas, and off of the west coast of Mexico. “Being a diver is a huge asset to how I operate fishing charters,” he said. “I drop in on all of my fishing spots to check out where the fish sit on certain wrecks and where the backdoor holes are on the ledges that line our coast. I have the experience to challenge the most serious anglers and the understanding to help the most novice get hooked.”

2 Shea Charters started in the Tampa Bay area in 2005, running a single, 24-foot center console. With consistency and integrity, he’s grown to now offer experiences on three boats, including a custom 42-foot Dorado luxury sport fish along with a 31-foot Southport center console and a 30 foot Island Hopper. He has received local and regional recognition in a variety of magazines, internet information boards, and television appearances in addition to repeat clients from all over the world. When he’s not helping clients reel in a great catch or explore the depths, he can be found looking through his mask for my next super secret spot or hooking my two children on their next biggest catches!
