Located in the third bend south of Roger’s Park on the Weeki Wachee River, Hospital Hole comes from a local legend where supposedly injured fish came to this site to be healed before returning to the sea. The main hole is roughly 150 feet in diameter and reaches a depth of 135 to 140 feet. Between 70 and 80 feet, there is a thick layer of hydrogen sulfide that blocks most of light below it. Below the layer, visibility is usually very good. A few flowing springs sprout from the wall around 70 feet, just above the hydrogen sulfide layer and you can often see manatees here during the colder weather months!

On Sunday, Dec. 15, Adventure Outfitters is offering a tour via kayak of the Hospital Hole cavern system. This trip is $95 and includes 2 Nitrox tanks, DM and Kayak. You must be Advanced Open Water certified, Enriched Air certified and have at minimum, 50 Dives. We will only have a maximum of 4 people on this dive, so spots will run out fast!
