On Saturday, Dec. 12, Adventure Outfitters will hold a Holiday Dive at Venice Beach which will include an underwater scavenger hunt, a free air tank rental or fill, divemaster-led tour, water, snacks and prizes.

We will have a shore swim approximately 300 feet and drop down on wave breaker (concrete blocks) that are in water approximately 15 to 19 feet in depth. These concrete blocks have lots of soft coral growth and some hard coral growth. They are home to many young fish. Also at times, barracuda, snook and the occasional manatee can be found. At this depth, mostly small fossils are found, however larger megalodon teeth, whale and manatee bones are found as well.

This dive is great dive training to establish neutral buoyancy since every diver needs to carefully dive just inches above the sea floor bottom in order to pick at the dark, black, small fossils without silting up the bottom which would make fossil hunting even more difficult.

We will also have a diver scavenger hunt, where we will have 5 to 6 holiday ornaments for the divers to find. Each will have a number imprinted on them which will correspond with a prize. If some of the ornaments are not found, we will retrieve them and raffle off the prizes to the divers present. We also will have holiday snacks and drinks for everyone.
